- Sky broadband breaks all the records and reaches over 1 million subscribers in just over a year, making us the UK’s fastest growing broadband provider.
- Sky.com relaunches as a portal for users of all of Sky’s sites with a revolutionary video carousel, Google tools and a gateway to the best content from our destination sites.
- After integrating the sales teams from Sky, Aura Sports, 365 Media and MKP, Sky Digital Media launches with 174 sites and a reach of 15.9 million* individuals.
2006
- To consolidate our position in the sport marketplace Sky purchases 365 Media Group, bringing a family of leading sports sites to complement Sky Sports and Aura Sports' portfolio of sites.
- Sky announces a unique alliance with Google providing great tools for Sky.com users, including Sky branded email, search and calendar.
- Sky buys digital sales house Aura Sports, the leading specialist sales house for sports and entertainment, taking its sales proposition to over 150 sites and 30 staff.
- Sky demonstrates its commitment to digital by disrupting the market by launching Sky Broadband which offers up to 16mb broadband for just £10 per month and a 2mb connection for free.
- The first of Sky’s online media purchases is mykindaplace Ltd, publisher of the UK’s most popular lifestyle sites for teens and over 45s, together with a hugely talented website design and build business
2005
- Sky purchases Easynet, one of the UK’s leading network services providers, and immediately sets to work implementing the systems behind Sky Broadband.
